Cigarette Smoking Is Injurious to Health. How & Why....????

Tags

In Our Daily Life Cigarette smoking is a fashion Nowadays without Knowing the effect of that. People continue to smoke in spite of the statutory warning of its dangerous effects.

It is for all these fatal results that in many countries, nowadays it is compulsory for the cigarette manufacturing companies to print a warning on every packet that ‘Smoking is dangerous for health’ or “Smoking is injurious to health”, etc.

A lot of components is present in the cigarette that leads a lot of harmful effect in human life.

THE COMPONENTS OF CIGARETTE SMOKE

Nicotine, Tars, Ammonia, Formaldehyde, Acetone, Arsenic, Cadmium, Methanol, Benzene, Glycol, Carbon monoxide( The leading cause of death by asphyxiation), Isoprene, Toluene,  Hydrogen Sulphide, Polonium, Nickel, Acetaldehyde, Phenol,  etc........

The complete list will include more than 4000 chemicals! While some of these chemicals are very “esoteric” and complex, all of us have seen a few in our daily life.

A lot of harmful effects come from the smoking cigarette as I have described below.

There is not a single part of the body that goes Scot – free from the effects of cigarette smoke.

The list will include:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart Disease
  • Pulmonary Disease
  • Vascular Diseases
  • Stroke
  • Impotence
  • Respiratory Infections
  • Ulcers
  • Cancer
  • Skin wrinkling

It Leads to Cancer :

We are listening about of cigarette smoking is leading lung cancer, but that is not right 100%. Cigarette smoking leads a lot of cancer like nose, mouth, kidneys, bladder, pancreas, cervix, bone marrow & blood also.

Leads to formation of wrinkles and premature aging:

We try a number of ways to fight the signs of aging, right from creams to diets to even surgical treatments, but did you know that if you quit smoking you can actually cut down the appearance of fine lines and other signs of aging by half? Yes, smoking leads to the appearance of fine lines(especially around the eyes and lips), age spots, puffy eyes, dull, dry and lifeless skin.

How it happens is that the chemicals present in cigarettes cause the fine capillaries under your skin to contract and constricts the blood flow to your skin. This lack of blood and fresh oxygen causes your skin to look dull and lifeless. So much so that the habit leads to permanent damage to connective fibers like elastin and collagen – leading to the formation of permanent lines and wrinkles.

Smoking cause Weakens your heart, putting you twice at risk of suffering from a heart attack and stroke:

According to the CDC (Centre for Disease Control), a smoker is two to four times likelier to suffer from coronary artery disease and stroke than a non-smoker. Moreover, people who smoke have a 25 times greater risk of suffering from lung cancer. Here’s how; the chemicals present in cigarette smoke affects the entire composition of your blood; making it thicker and more prone to formation of blood clots. Apart from that it also causes the constriction of your blood vessels, increases your blood pressure (since it makes your heart beat faster), and leads to the formation of plaque – increasing your chances of suffering from cardiovascular and heart disease. Decrease the stamina & capacity of Lungs:

Cigarettes have a large number of chemicals which leave a considerable amount of residue in your lungs, airways and your entire body in general. All this residue ends up clogging your lungs leading to breathing problems and lowered lung function.

This lack of fresh oxygen and blood to various parts of your body causes fatigue and breathlessness. Research has shown that smoking can lead to COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), emphysema, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, lung infections, asthma and increases one’s risk of suffering from TB.

It also leads to  brittle your bones:

This loss in bone density leads to early onset of osteoporosis (especially in women since smoking affects the amount of estrogen produced), joint pain and even loss of teeth due to excessive loss of bone density in the jaws.

Stains your teeth:

Cigarettes contain tar, a chemical that coats your teeth lending them a yellowish tinge.   This tar is difficult to clean with brushing and usually forms permanent stains on a smoker’s teeth. Apart from that the habit also kills the good bacteria in your mouth, increases the amount of saliva secreted and causes a higher amount of tartar formation on your teeth.

Causes bad breath:

This not only relates to the commonly known ‘smoker’s breath’, but in some cases may lead to severe and persistent bad breath.  Apart from killing off the good bacteria in your mouth, smoking is also known to cause problems with digestion, throat infections and build up of chemicals within the oral cavity (an unhealthy throat and stomach are one of the key reasons for bad breath, apart from poor oral hygiene).

Not only does smoking cause conditions like oral thrush but also leads to a condition called ‘smoker’s palate’  (where the roof of the mouth is covered with cigarette residue, leading to the formation of small red spots on the palate) which is one of the main reasons for bad breath.

Lead to reduce sperm quality:

Cigarette smoking may also lead to lose the sperm quality & decrease the thickness of sperm. so that possibility of a baby is decreased & You will face a lot of a baby.

Lead to decrease Immunity system weak:

Cigarette smoking also leads to decrease the strength of your immunity system, so that you may fall a lot of time ill with low infection also.

Cigarette Smoking Is Injurious to Health, How???

Smoke is inhaled through the mouth, and goes into the lungs, where nicotine is absorbed by the blood and reaches the brain in 7 seconds approx! Yes, just 7 seconds. And no, nicotine is not the only evil involved as you shall note below.

Cigarettes are not the only source of nicotine, there are other household sources - they are only the most potent sources; the other sources are not harmful. And an even further no, I shall not delve more into the other sources as they are a subject unto themselves! The difference is in the method of intake: the cigarette sources bypass all functions and directly reach the bloodstream.

In the brain, nicotine increases the levels of Dopamine, a chemical that attaches to receptors on neurons in the brain when they “fire” {medicos to ignore this gross simplification}: just like cocaine. Yes, cocaine.

The only difference is that cocaine replaces the dopamine in the brain – which nicotine does not do. And THAT is the reason why smoking causes better concentration, a feeling of pleasure and contentment. {In cocaine addiction, this is at a higher level, a stage akin to euphoria}.

The similarity of the impact of nicotine and cocaine is a subject of research, and there exists a good deal of information in relation to this.

So If you are a smoker then be careful about the effect of smoking & Please quit smoking as soon as possible if you love to your health & your family.
